Miami has been the South American drug smuggling target entry point via commercial aircraft for decades.
Those U.S. Customs guys in Miami are tough and are usually backed up in doing their inspections.
And, with our new political environment, things are now different in the U.S. for border crossings.
If you do go to Miami, make sure to get an experienced person on the U.S. side of things to expedite the full importation process, of course that will cost something, too.
The Canadian Customs guys would probably be as easy to work with as it was when you went from Australia to Canada.
After all, you've got the same Queen.
Good point! We think we would rather ship into Canada. Its such a breeze getting our gear out of customs. We just received a quote though, $1500 per bike to Miami and $2000 per bike to Toronto. ouch!!!

Do keep an eye on the weather predictions as you head north. I was chatting with Miranda yesterday about your adventures and she reminded me of a few things that I had conveniently forgotten. How she got caught in an ice storm in Chubut. How we both got caught in a blizzard in Neuquen. Four or five years ago I was in a mini-convoy of well-equipped 4x4s in Santa Cruz and we all got stuck in the snow.
Oh geez. We have been keeping an eagle eye on the weather forcasts for the next 1000kms and if we can get a good run we will be clear of the cold areas in just 4 days. But now that Chilean customs have gone on indefinate strike we cant get out of here anyways. All the borders are shut down this way while the strike goes on. Could be a day, could be a month or could be 3 months. Anyone own a helicopter and want to come rescue us?
We are going to try to beg our way out tomorrow, if it works out, as we really are getting stressed about getting caught down here in a full blown winter.
