OK, I'm doing it again.
Now, I'd like you to submit some high resolution digital photos for the 2009 CT Calendar.
I'd also like to level the playing field and say that we want only photos of the following…
Honda Trail 50's
Honda Trail 55's
Honda Trail 90's
Honda Trail 110's
Honda Trail 125's
There are several factors that make high quality digital photos.
We want photos that are sharp and clear, in otherwords, they have… at least 200 pixels per inch AND/OR are bigger than 17 inches in the horizontal direction. These photos usually have file sizes of 1 megabyte or larger (often 2-3 megabytes). The bigger the better. Generally if you put your digital camera on it's highest resolution setting, that will often be OK (check your camera manual for how to get high resolution photos).
Please do not edit the photos in any way.
Keep your photos "clean" by not having the date (or anything else) from the camera show up in the picture.
Digital photo formats that are acceptable are either JPEGs (prefered) or TIFFs. If you do digital drawings or cartoons, they can also be submitted.
Photo Guidelines
Photos that are well illuminated, "all over", are best (no bright areas and dark shade areas in the same photo, otherwise known as "high contrast").
Scenic locations are great, but a nice clean background is also OK. Garage doors as a background would be OK, an "evenly" illuminated hedge of bushes behind the bike is OK, cluttered items in the background are BAD! (very distracting).
No close up views of people in the photo (to avoid anyone whining about NOT getting their face in the calendar), people at a distance when you can't really tell who they are, is OK.
Action shots are OK, just make sure the rider is shown in a safe manner… helmet, gloves, long pants, boots (like in a Honda advertisement).
Making your photo look like a "Honda trail bike outdoor advertisement" is OK (just no faces).
A few or a bunch of CT's parked together in a `line up', would be OK.
Nothing that would look like personal or business advertising in your photos.
Look over the calendar photos from last year and see what you thought looked good!
Here are the cover's of the 2008 CT Calendars.

General Composition Guidelines
Photos from the side of your bike are great, it shows a lot of your bike (either side is OK).
A slight angle to your bike is also OK (flat on, can sometimes look like a mug shot).
Do not get the bike too close to the edges of your photo (allow some `breathing room').
Have more `breathing room' in front of your bike gives the impression of being able to move forward.
Have the sun over one of your shoulders (nice "even" illumination on your bike), never in front of you (unless you are taking a great sunrise or sunset in the background and you will silhouette your CT).
Don't show your shadow in the photo (look for it, avoid it, if possible)
If you want to "stage" your bike, ready for a camping trip, all loaded up, that would be interesting.
If you have some unique additions to your bike, that would be great to show them.
Dirty bikes are OK, a couple of super clean garage queens would be good, as well.
Maybe someone will do a "close-up" of something neat on their CT.
If you come up with some unique idea for a CT photo, go ahead and take it, then send it to me.

Purchasing Calendars
The 2009 CT Calendars are purchased at a web store (CafePress) from early December through the end of January. When they are ready for purchase I'll let you know.
It's important for you to know… I will use a web store that creates the calendar (and other products, too!) as you order them. You do not order the 2009 CT Calendar(s) from me.
There will be no cost to me to use this type of process, so I will set the calendar price at the wholesale price.
You will be paying the wholesale cost plus the shipping charges. There is NO MINIMUM order amount. AND, you don't pay me… you pay the web store (CafePress) directly.
You will be paying the wholesale cost plus the shipping charges (and, they do ship internationally). There is NO MINIMUM order amount. AND, you don't pay me… you pay the web site directly, I never see your $$$. If no one orders a calendar except me, no big deal.
Other items in the web store do have a small "mark up", usually about $1 - $2 per item, a reasonable amount. This "mark up" helps pay for the web site and this forum's annual costs. That way this forum is "advertisement free". So far there has not been a surplus, so I make up the difference.
Starting in late 2007, the making of a unique CT Calendar was offered, provided that I would receive enough high resolution digital photos to create at least
one calendar. I received enough photos to make three different and unique calendars for the 2008 year, each a different size.

Look in my profile (click on my name at the top left) and find my email address and send me your photos as an "attachment" to your email. Or, you send an email to CT90-CT110@COX.NET . You may need to send multiple emails if you want to send multiple high resolution digital photos. Send as many photos as you want, there is no maximum limit of photos for any individual.
The final selection of photos (I'll take that responsibility) that will be included, their editing (croping, sizing, and color balance) and the assembly of the photos into the calendars will be in early December, so you can purchase a calendar before Christmas.
