1969 "odd ball" carb, completely rebuilt, new needle and seat, all new rubber parts, floats are perfect, tuned to run excellent, no issues at all....took it out last week and ran it on and off for an entire day, brought it home, shut off the fuel, came out later and the overflow hose is dripping, it will fill a short p-nut butter jar about 1/4 full overnight.
I have had this thing apart twice now, just checked and its leaking.
I have pressurized the brass overflow tube in the bowl, no leaks, I polished the seat and needle, I cleaned the sealing surface, replaced the rubber button and spring in the petcock...yes, the lever is installed correctly, there is only one way to install on the "odd ball"....What am I missing?
The amount of fuel that collects in the jar tells me something is wrong with the petcock, its either not shutting off or has a leak, or the needle and seat, but why is the fuel getting past the needle and overfilling the float bowl if the float is working fine...
Its almost like there is some kind of vacume going on, drawing the fuel past the petcock, past the needle and overfilling the bowl...
The leaking doesnt start right away after I put it back together, heck, it might sit for a couple hours then just starts
Could it be the gas cap? I am grasping at straws at the moment
Any Ideas?
Steve
