You might be surprised how many don't get this and simply refuse to even give it a try .BTW : with original rectifiers , the battery is always going dead because they " leak " a tiny bit of current when the engiune is off .-Nate Russman wrote: +1, my experience has been that a good battery is what makes my 90 a one kick wonder, when the battery is weak, he gets hard to start and will begin to misfire at the top end.

The bike still fires on first kick, but there is a dramatic lack of power (still no air filter, will probably get the uni-filter. I had a K&N, but couldn't get it to fit with the body unles I bend the sides of the filter). Before, with the high idle in neutral, it rocketed me up and down my block. Now it sputters along barely giving me anything. And it's not wanting to catch gears, but that's because the chain has no slack. I made ti too tight, so after dinner I will be going to adjust that rear wheel.

Finally I decided to inspect the airfilter and found out that there wasn't one in the housing... just a hose to nowhere.I bought a filter and connector and put the system back to stock and the bike ran PUUURFECT. I think these bikes just run better when all the stock stuff is in place.
