I finally did it. As I was headed home from work yesterday I took a roundabout too fast and misjudged the size of it. Couldn't slow down fast enough and
couldn't get the bike to run (old knobby tires) and I hit the curb. Went over the handle bars and landed on the grass between the sidewalk and the street.
Broke my Left big toes and bruised / tweaked my ribs on the right. They claim they didn't break.
Damage to the bike and a request for suggestions: I was able to get the bile started right away and drove home. Then in the car drove myself to the hospital for xrays. I broke the headlight bucket and the handle bars are twisted about 30 degrees to the right. Don't remember the wheel having a wobble on the way home but I will ride it after I heal a bit more to fell it out. Need to know how to straiten the handle bars / forks. I will try to to repair the headlight bucket with some fiberglass repair. I will try to buff the headlight scratches out. Oh yeah, that hit the curb too but the light works fine.
Tough bike these are.
What else should I look for after flipping the bike and having it layed out? Loooking at with drug induced blurryness I'm not sure exactly what to look for yet. I Hope to be up in a few days and on the bike again within a few weeks IF the damage can be repaired cheap or free. My lesson from this? Get better street tires and slow my ass down! Inexperience will get you hurt.
