I'm saying when the key is turned on and the green neutral lite is illuminated, I would then proceed to start the bike. Otherwise one would assume there's a problem in the circuit or a burnt out neutral bulb. As long as your 6 volt battery is metering 6+ volts then this would indicate it's being properly charged. It's not necessary to continually monitor the battery, once everything is working properly and you either ride on a regular basis or use a battery tender there's no reason why the bike shouldn't operate properly.
