There is some evidence to say that CT stands for Trail Cub, a model designation.
Honda often reverses the first characters of a common model name.
The Cub part refers back the the Honda Super Cub as the origin of the Honda Trail Bike
See the "What is a Honda CT?" on the web site.

In regards to "K0", it was just "one way" Honda identified model changes.
And, it wasn't really that great at doing so, because there were still changes, even if the "K" number didn't change.
Check out the CT Gallery, and then observe the sub-menus items on the left side.
Some have "K's" and some don't. 3 years of "K0's" and 2 years of "K4's".
Read the first year of "K0",1966 and the first year of NO, "K" number, 1976.
