Hello,

And welcome to a great group. Ask any question you want because somebody will have encountered your problem around here before.

I also have an old Harley bike . . . well sort of an old Harley. Mine is a 1971 "Sparkling Green" Aermacchi AMF Harley Sprint SX350 that is "under destruction". The motor is at the rebuilder and I'm doing everything else. Some long forgotten previous owner badly applied a red coat of Red Kote fuel tank liner and this is what is giving me fits presently. Where the surface on the inside was well prepared, this stuff stuck very well and is resisting everything I can throw at it for removal - methyl ethyl ketone, methylene chloride, paint stripper, boiling CLR bathroom cleanser and lacquer thinner.   Stout stuff, this Red Kote.

So yes, I think we all understand your affliction . . . .

Rick
