Rode 40 miles, a mixture of town and country driving. Lots of stop and go. Nervous as hell with a motor that kept wanting to die at lights. Finally figured out, after I was almost home, that I had the choke on almost the whole way. Sheesh. Also discovered after I got home that there was no filter in the air box, just a rag wrapped around the screen. The good news is that I finally figured out why I had to use the choke in the first place and ordered a new foam filter immediately. Later that evening I faked one by cutting some thin strips of foam out of a block I had lying around, soaked them in gear oil and wrapped the screen with them. This greatly improved how the bike ran, no cutting out!
