Hum....

I can't remember any internal difference in the Dual Range Sub Transmissions that I've had apart.
Wish I could remember exactly what years they were (it was about 6 years ago). I believe they were all in the '70 year range.

Mid way thru the 1967 year was when the Dual Range Sub Transmission was first introduced (CT90-122551 and higher), so it could have been a "unique", one off unit and other parts will NOT interchange with that year. I've seen that characteristic on other, Honda first year introduced, features.

If you already have the new lever, I can't see anything bad happening if you took the old lever out and tried the new lever in place, sort of a "test fit". Then I think you should be able to see how it works with the cover off.
