I'll grant you that the wheel generator does cause drag, but I'll bet the starter motor will over come that (especially downhill, which is half a trip usually). You always ride uphill, first, don't you?

And, while the wheel generator won't keep up with the output of the battery to the starter motor (perpetual motion? NO!), the generator will increase the "run time" of the battery, thus extending the trip length a bit.

Add some of those gerbils (or a single Jack Russel Terrier), the solar array and some multiple goofy propellers on the handlebars, (plus maybe one propeller on top of the helmet "beany style", to add "lift" and reduce rolling resistance, gyrocopter style), and you could go farther than without all that STUFF.
