Ok here's another bit of an update. The whole reason I have been checking and rechecking parts is because my bike was doing this thing were it would bog down when I hit the throttle quickly. If I didn't let right up on the throttle when it started to stall then it would die. So in my hunt to find the problem I have, learned how to set points gap, set valve gap, change the oil, I have opened the carb so many times I've lost count and cleaned the jets and emulsion tube along with the carb, I replaced the rectifier and cleaned a couple dirty connections and the tail light ground. I also put in a 75 and 38 jet from a dratv carb kit, they replaced the 62 and 35 that were in my carb. I am thinking it was the jet sizes that were causing the bogging problem but I am not sure. Either way, I got the bike to start today, (thanks to a suggestion from Neal in the carb thread) and I haven't ridden it yet but I've hit the throttle hard while its idling and it responds great. Seems like the problem is fixed! Either way I do believe I am making some progress considering when I got this bike 6 months ago I had never even touched a motorcycle before.
