Tore my newly assembled engine's right side off to try and figure out why it wouldn't shift correctly and had a "wandering" neutral. After fiddling with the linkage while rotating the driven gear, all four speeds suddenly appeared along with my missing neutral light! I don't understand how, but I must have inadvertently engaged two speeds at once when assembling. Plans today call for reinstalling everything and then checking for a possible vacuum leak that's causing over revving during idle.
