Thanks Allen,
I have cleaned up the front forks and replaced the fluid but I need to redo it with a new seal on the left side and heavier oil. Great idea. I also greased the triple tree and front wheel bearings. But ya know, wouldn't hurt to take it all apart again and be sure I did it right the time around. Also read here about using fine grit sandpaper to clean up the break pads and drum. Front tire looks almost new with some rubber nibs still on it. The rear wheel and drive chain, rear sprocket, and rear breaks need to be gone thru and parts replaced. Rear wheel is old and I shouldn't have been riding with it in the first place. Old original type knobby that shows wear from use and weather. Cracking etc... and you wonder why this inexperienced rider crashed. But this is the perfect time to take apart everything and do it right. Including the fuel tank.
speaking of the fuel tank, there are the 2 inner pipes that allow fuel to flow out of the tank to the fuel lines. The main fuel pipe (tube) leaks when fuel enters it. No leaks whent eh fuel is low enough not to enter the pipe. Do these pipes clamp together somewhere between the interior and exterior of the tank? I can fill the tank to just below the pipe opening and run off the reserve line with zero leak.
Hell, this might even be the time to strip the bike down entirely and repaint it. But I am already off the narcotics and only taking Advil and wanna get back out on the road! These bikes are addicting! But I absolutely have to repair the front end and replace the rear tire first.
