Take some pictures of the bars from both sides so when you reset the new bars on the mounts you can get them close to the same position they were. The first thing you want to do before you remove the four bolts holding the handlebars down is pull the headlight out and unplug all the wires running out of both wiring harnesses coming into the bucket from the bars. The color coding is pretty straight forward but you can take a few notes as well. Being your going to pull the bucket off, the only other thing to unplug is the horn and speedo cable. I find it easier to remove the mirrors and throttle cable before the bars. I also mark the mounts so that they go back the on the same side, same direction they were. Don't think this is necessary but I do it any way. Once you remove the bars you need to fish the control wiring harnesses back out of them. If the grey covering on the wires is broken up remove it at this point, this makes it much easier to get the wires out. You can use shrink tubing or the Good Doctor sells the tubing as well. It's takes a bit of gentle tugging and pulling to get them out but they'll come out. Now is the time to repair the tubing on the harnesses if need be. Also, now is the time to repair the tubing on the main wiring harness where it runs around the neck of the bike. Seems most older bikes have cracked tubing at this point. I use 3/4 inch shrink tubing and paint it gray, can't hardly tell the difference. When your ready to run the harnesses back through the bars, I tape up the ends and put a dab of white grease on them and start fishing the ends through. Once through, you loose mount the bars and buckle up the controls and such. Using the photos you took your now ready to tighten the mounting bolts. I've probable made it sound much harder than it is.
