drilled and tapped the swingarm brackets for the enclosed chainguards.

hung the engine on the frame.

fitted the brush bar to the chrome engine guard and discovered that it does not fit. I need to mount the bottom with padded rubber clamps; U bolt brackets are designed for a parallel brush guard.

went by the hardware store for padded clamps. they moved them. been in the same spot for 20 years and they moved them. snotty Ace hardware guy following me around the store "can I help? is there anything I can do?" like a damn Labrador retriever. go away, boy, you bother me.

started making the wire bits to adapt CDI and full wave alternator / rectifier to an 80. it would be way cool if someone made a wire striper, put in a black wire and white paint, pull at a slow but steady rate, you got black with a white stripe. cause it's not sold in stores, folks.

discovered that the throttle cable was crushed and abraded at some point in the last 34 years.

took the air cleaner apart and discovered rotting rubber bits that can't be replaced. RTV is your friend.

The biggie: tried to hang my new exhaust from Bing Bong Bang Clang, The Orient. pipe does not fit in port, flanges not spaced properly, and if you hang it from the shocks and the spot over the battery, the opening comes out in the right exhaust stud. looking for the old exhaust now.

tried all manner of locations for mounting Plano pistol cases. won't know for sure until the extra gas tank mount is welded up.

realized I'm missing a big box of parts that I remember having and setting aside for way later in the project, like when it's almost finished. that would be now.
