While my yellow K4 is sitting around waiting for it an ignition coil and a clutch nut socket so I can fix the shift drum stopper, I figure I'd tinker with the orange 77.

I had bought a chinese ebay carb for it a while back and put it on but could never get it to fire and run no matter how much I adjusted it, so I thought it was time to try again. I pulled the carb, checked everything over, and reset it back to 'default' and then decided to check the battery.

And you're all gonna kick me for this... So when I first got the replacement carb I knew the battery was old and in crappy shape and figured I should still be able to get it fire after kicking it a bunch of times. But what I did not know is that the positive lead had corroded clear through at the case and was no longer connected to the battery (the trouble this would have saved me before). x_x

So since the autoparts stores were closed already and I was in a try anything, tinkering sorta' mood I thought I'd throw a capacitor I plan to use on my yellow K4 in there and see if I could get any spark to generate. So in went the capacitor now wired to the leads in place of the battery. Kicked it twice and it sputtered to life just as bewildered as myself at that moment. Well it wasn't idling worth a damn and coughing and falling fat on its face when revved, so I figured 'ok like I thought this capacitor can't support this little 90 on its own, it needs to be paired with a battery.' Then I decided hey maybe I should adjust the carb a bit and see what happens. Few twist of pilot screw later it was idling awesome so I thought well lets take her for a spin. I'm grinning ear to ear blasting up and down dirt roads, stopping to adjust the carb as I go. Now it runs great. Starts first kick every time, idles great, rev's awesome, and will even hit 40 with a pillion.
