After a good long break due to life and the kid (man, has it already been a year? He turns One on the Feb. 26th!) I've finally gotten around to working on the bike again. Put everything together after I tore the motor down for gaskets and rubber pieces needing replacement and the motor wouldn't turn. After many angry hours and a few bruised knuckles, I figured out my valves were too tight, which seemed odd to me since I left them gaped properly when I took the head off. My theory was I wouldn't have to mess with them if I didn't undo them in the build, but guess my idea didn't work. SO now I've got to gap the valves, set the timing, and points gap (not necessarily in that order), and also install a new ignition lock. I sort of..lost...my key in the move to the new place. Good thing the Doctor has them in stock.
