Blinkers are equally bright and are very bright for that. It's my understanding we have to use blinkers in CA on 1973 and later models to be street legal. But I think there could be more to this story than just the blinkers. First time I took the bike on trails it ran great the whole trip then at the very end literally last half mile of riding it started to miss. Got it home and it wasn't charging. I've got a buddy who works on CT's restoring them and I took it to him and he replaced the stator and she worked fine, but still had the blinker problem (ie losing power when they're on). Took the bike on another 40 mile or so dirt ride and she ran like a top. Got her home, hosed her off, and took her around the block to dry her off and she starts missing again. Checked the battery and its not charging again. Took it back to my buddy and he changed the stator again and also put on a new rectifier. Now she's running good again but still has the blinker problem and I fear if I take her on another trip it will be back to square one. My buddy and I have both looked through all connections in the headlight bucket and they appear to be good. Unfortunately neither of us are electrical wizards and we're thinking our next step is to unwrap all the wires running up the frame and through the handlebars looking for a potential short or bad connection? I'm just nervous to start tearing things up and possibly cause more problems when we solve. The blinker thing really isn't a problem. The bike idles fine with them on at stops and as long as I turn them off once I turn before I get up to 2000 RPMS then the bike accelerates just fine. I'm just worried that once I start bouncing around on dirt I'll lose the charging system again and be stuck out in BFE with a dead battery. Again if you've got any thoughts I'd love to hear them.
