I went home and pulled out the K2 to ride two towns over and pick up some new shirts I'd ordered last week....

It was idling sweetly as I was putting on helmet & gloves , I noticed the (Dr.ATV Chinese non D.O.T.) headlight was out (yet again)  and grabbed a screwdriver to see why , the bulb had fallen out of it's socket (huh ?!)  so I decided to re install the old partially burned out original seal beam when the bike just *stopped* ~ no lights , horn etc. .

Oh damn .

I spent the next four hours removing the entire main harness and un wrapping it , testing each wire and connection , repairing it then re wrapping it in top quality Scotch brand Super 33 tape , it's no longer grey but it also no longer has that ugly split where it goes around the steering neck either .

I noticed that the main harness' bullet connectors to the alternator sub harness have different colors but the alternator leads are all black ~ I assume this means all three legs of the alternator on early models charge the same ? .

I may have to do some further testing here .

It's back to missing @ WOT , that's a bummer but at least I was able to ride and on thos pitch black back roads the stock seal beam works pretty well , not as well as the Chinese one but that keeps having terminal issues so I think I'll just give up and order up two original Stanley , made in Japan seal beams and suffer the rusty headlight rim and lower output , it draws more current too and so better regulates the battery's charging .
