Above was my first post so what have I been doing to my newly required CT90 K3 1971. Scarlet Red. Bought with 7949 miles on it
This is a long post .... with 3 weeks fettlin` thumbs up

It ... I`m going to call my CT90 Dot ... she was in my shed and I really did want to keep Dot there but after a bottle of NZ Pinot Noir as a celebration of getting my CT90 ... At 12.15am I brought Dot into the house. My tiny kitchen now has a centre piece wing with the centre stand sat on a 2 foot square of plywood.
Had to first get the throttle to move, copious amounts of oil down the cable did not get it to move freely so stripped the twist grip and cleaned all the gunge out. Still not very good so now i`m looking for a stronger carb spring. I have now put oil in all the cables as they`re all dry and very pleased with that result as everything is starting to work.
I noticed the chain is at it`s end of service, rear sprocket has hardly any wear though. I thought it best to to drop the back wheel out and have a look at the rear brake shoes.
Noticed that one of the chain adjusters is somewhat oval on the left side ... confused
Rear axle drew out nicely, an indication that there has been some maintenance on this CT. What I`ve found is good but for the damper rubbers a bit chewed and a few bits of aluminium floating about in the hub. Hmmm ... I found a thread on the forum, this happens when someone has changed gear in the wrong sequence. Do I get a new hub, yes, and also some new cush/damper rubbers on order. I also looked at the sprocket carrier and for some reason there is a bolt 1/2 inch longer than the others and that is slightly bent. Tapped it with a hammer softly left and right a few times and it snapped off ... Phew Happy was able to unscrew the bolt, need a fresh one of those. But why was it there in the first place??? Brake shoes hardly any wear and all looks good in the drum. Rims are like new and the spokes are in good nick too.
Removed the air filter housing and gave that a clean inside. A few dead bugs but NO air-filter element there, now on order. A screw missing on a circlip at which joins this tube to the rear rack, everything else is complete and now removed.
Next is see what the exhaust condition is like. A few screws are missing holding on the shields but no rust or dents. Have removed that totally and on to the seat with petrol tank. A bit of sand in the tank. Have removed it to wash out with fresh fuel. Seat will need re-doing at some point but Ok at the moment. I also have a pillion seat that came with Dot and that is in better nick than the main seat.
With the tank having sand in it the next thing to look at, the carburettor. As this is a bike from the US and it would be good to know from you guy`s. Do all CT90`s come with an Altitude Compensator (AC) button in the US ? Stripped it down to what I know I can do. Bowl was filled with brown gunge even above the seal. Cleaned the nifty filter crusted with more gunge. Then the tap, give that a clean. Unscrewed main jet and gave that a clean and hooked the clip out of the AC button ... ping ... now where did that go ... half an hour later I find it again only to loose it for half the morning when putting the carb back together. Have put an order in for a gasket kit for the carb and Insulator gasket. Carb is sitting in my fruit bowl till rebuilding takes place, it`s Ok i`ve eaten the fruit. what the heck?
Tomorrow I will try to remove the engine from the frame and get to the underside of the frame to clean and cover it all with ACF50. The Paint is good everywhere and will stay just as it is.
A few other things I have done, taken the foot bar off as that is loose and has had a severe knock and is bent, no side stand on Dot, just got one on UK Ebay though today. The headlight shroud/bucket was broken and even more so when I had help putting the CT90 in the back of my car no no also got one of those on UK Ebay last week. Wrong colour but I may spray it black anyway.

Wow, look at the time ... will report back on how I get on tomorrow.
