Obviously not much work being done to Posties lately!

Today I stripped the throttle assembly and gave it a good clean out as it was sticky and worked as a sort of impromptu cruise control, looks as though the previous owner(s) used grease on it.. so I removed that with some citrus degreaser, WD40 and some hairspray and it's now smooth as a babies arse and snaps back to idle when you release it.

I also decided to have a look at the oil, only had about 400ml in it so it was definitely low, drained it all and anyone want to have a guess when it was last done?

Used Castrol Activ 4T Motorcycle Oil 15W-50 as others recommended it for Posties. Couldn't believe the black %%%@ that came out though, yuck.

Used a ton of degreaser on the chain as well, gave it a good scrubbing with a wire brush and then used a pressure hose to clean it up good - it's true if you get the angle just right the wheel will turn while you spray it and make the job easier - the water coming off it at first was pitch black. Am just letting it dry in the sun now before I go reapply some proper chain lubricant. I don't get it, oil changes and lubing the chain are such simple things to do so its beyond me why some people just don't.

Also filled the tank up with 98 octane fuel, took $5 worth to fill the tank at $1.60 or so a litre (that works out to be $1.60 for 0.26 of a gallon).. petrol is expensive here :/ Can already hear the bike thumping just that little bit healthier!
