Decided to work on a wandering Idle on one of my K1's. Check for a air leak first, that was OK. Then I decided to look at the advance mechanism. Pulled the points plate off to get a good look at it, it was free with no slop in the springs. Put the points plate back on and reset the timing.
Went to start the bike and nothing!! I then asked myself, What was the last thing I did before it broke? Recheck the points, all is good. Check for fuel in the carb, it's fine. Pulled the plug wire and hook up a spare plug, I have spark. Now I'm scratching my head. I then pulled the plug and it's dripping wet. That's when I noticed that I had at some point in time managed to have turned the choke on!!!!
Hour and a half later all is fine. Haven't ran it long enough to see how the idle is doing...
As my tailer says "If it works don't fix it" And as MIJI says - "My advice? I don't even follow it."
