Doug ;

DO NOT remove & soak the drive chain ! .

These days they make terrific chain lube in Foo-Foo cans , it comes out thin & foamy then wicks into the chain's nether bits & the foamy solvent stuff evaporates leaving you with a well lubricated chain .

FWIW , Diesel fuel is ALWAYS a no-no because it destroys any oil's lubricity .

Put your CT on the center stand and wipe the chain clean or wire brush it then rol the rear wheel with one hand whilst you spray the chain lube on the inside of the chain just in front of the rear sprocket , keep at it until you see wet chain coming past the footpeg , stop and put it away ~ I always lubricate my chain at the end of a ride when the chain is hot from working .

What I did yesterday , was saddle up and ride my trusty CT90K2 with it's now black headlight bucket , for about three hours all over the SGV into Los Angeles and the Griffith Park Observatory then home again ~ it was a nice ride and I only suffered minimal pain .
