Order yourself a new gasket. I've never used any kind of silicone as if done properly they don't require any.
i did read that last night. i'm not a big fan either for silicone. people don't realize you only need a THIN film if your going to use that stuff. if you have it oozing out you put too much on. just remember if it's oozing out it's oozing in as well.                                                                                                                  i see though that engine is a newer one and it is showing the left side as sitting on the bike? that looks like the chain sprocket side. i only had the right side cover off the bike to replace the clutches. but according to the mechanic there is usually pressure in there. i know there will be some just like a car (insert pcv valve here) if there is pressure it goes through pcv valve back to the carb or such.
