Got the new parts from the Dr.  Installed and running super.  I did not have to bore it out as the original size was still perfect.  Just honed it and reassembled with new gaskets.  I bead blasted the old gray paint off the barrel, which was black underneath, and painted it a nice rustoleum high heat gloss black.  Looks fantastic.

SUPER nice compression, starts on first kick even without the choke some times.  The reason I rebuilt it is it just lost compression and died one day going home from work.  I let it cool a bit, and it restarted and got me home.  Tough ol' girl.  I figured it got hot from too much blow by (I saw smoke come from the breather one day before).  The original parts did not look bad.  Supposedly had only 2800 miles on it, but who knows for sure.  Base gasket was not original.

I CANT WAIT to ride, just need the weather to improve.  I will be singing this song for the next 6 months.

Gonna break it in, then switch to Rotella 10w30 for the long haul.
