Long distance, short distance, it's all the same to me... unless I only ride up hill all the time, then if something happens I can coast the bike downhill to the truck or home.

If you're talking about the Honda basic tool kit that originally came with the bike, leave it at home and get better made tools.

I usually carry a small and compact Craftsman wrench and socket set that often goes on sale for something like $19.99 or $29.99 and is a nice little plastic box that has room for more things once I tossed the plastic tool holder trays. The plastic box is about 1.5" high, and maybe 8" x 10", width & length.

I make sure it has all the same tools as the Honda basic tool kit and some of the other things that other CT'ers will mention in the next few messages.

Mine is a bit on the heavy side, and I place it low in my duffle bag on the rear cargo rack. With good modern tools like sockets and ratchets, I can do a repair quite quickly, instead of working with just open ended wrenches.

And, I seem to remember that we have some great "tool" threads already on the forum (hint, hint...).

Paved roads, just more needless government spending...
