Many, Many, grateful Thanks to Nate (VWNate), Bernard & last but not least Mel for perseverance above and beyond the call of duty, curiosity, etc......
At the Tech Day these guys spent HOURS sorting my bike out..... I also learned a TON in the process.

First off I snapped the darn kick-starter starting the bike, so a replacement was found ( Thanks Lee!) then Nate took me through setting Valve clearances properly, points gaps, timing, etc, Nate then after I had removed it, stripped n cleaned my Carb,,,,,( Thanks to Bernard for lending us the Jet cleaning tools!) then Nate also fitted a correct gasket ( again thanks to Lee for the gasket!) and then turned his attention to electrical side of things,
The result was.... the RECTIFIER was deaded!........ so a better solid state one was found on a parts bike and that replaced the Selenium Rectifier.... then with some help from Mel and more fault tracing on the wires....... all was correct.... the battery charges ( I wasn't aware it wasn't in the first place. I thought it was just crappy 6V electrics) and the bike runs SWEET!

so once again. Thanks to Allen for picking me up with the Bike and carting me to the tech day and back, to Nate for all his hard work, and great explanations of how and why, he taught me a lot without actually making me look or feel like a complete Idiot....... what a Great Guy!, Bernard for moral support, gentle chiding, good humour and the lending of tools, Mel for expert and rapid electrical fault diagnosis and also for trading me TWO Brand New cheng shin tires for the Carb i won in the raffle...another Great Dude!
Also grateful thanks to Lee for hosting the Tech Day and for his donation of parts.....and anyone else I have forgotten who helped out with lending wrenches etc.
