But which ones ??
I'll use the impulse method, picking the ones that stand out while quickly scanning the
proof sheets - actually quite accurate at selecting those that are most significant.

Sunset over Auckland as we wait for the overnight flight to Vancouver ...

Totem pole in Stanley Park, Vancouver ...

And another fixes us with a wooden stare ...

I loved the respect given to cyclists and pedestrians !   Everywhere I saw motorists
showing un-begrudging consideration for those on foot or two wheels ...

I know, it's a pest, but it was the first (and only) one I have ever seen.  Spotted
his rear end, like a discarded Davy Crockett hat, poking out of a rubbish bin,
then he backed out to reveal ...

Spectacular waterfalls ...

Another cute critter and another first sighting for me ....

Sublime Japanese garden in Seattle ...

Dragon boats, Portland ...

Colourful lady monks, Dragon Boat festival ...

Fabulous "flat iron" style building.  Found and photographed six others that were
equally impressive, but I won't put them up just in case there might be one or two
on the list who (for whatever reason, and who am I to question their tastes) do
NOT like flat iron style buildings ...

Iconic San Fransisco cable cars in the wet ...

Tried to get a tour of The Rock, but it was booked solid for three days.
Is there a comment on human nature in there somewhere?

That's my white bike on the red Golden Gate Bridge.  The blue notice by the yellow
telephone encourages potential suicides to call and speak to someone. Wonder if I
could have made a long distance call back home on it?

THE intersection !   Where Haight and Ashbury cross the Hippy culture
still lives on, if only for the tourists ...

But the grandchildren seemed to be trying to get into the swing of things.
Hey kids, go play on your Nintendo, or go create your own movement.
Leave the hippie stuff with us old buggers where it belongs !!!

Yosemite.
My attempt at imitating the inimitable Ansell Adams ....

Half Dome ....

Couldn't get unleaded at Chloride ...

Meet Mr Tumbleweed ...

First sight of the Grand Canyon ...

Ten miles across at this point ...

And a mile deep from the helicopter ...

I'm trembling?? No, just a bit cold, that's all ...

Stayed at the town of Mexican Hat. Possibly this rock formation had something
to do with the town's name ...

Monument Valley.  So vast, so impossible to capture in a photograph ...

Taliesan West, Scottsdale AZ, the home and studio of my hero Frank Lloyd Wright.
This was an unplanned bonus as I had not realised that as we arrived in Phoenix to
drop off the rental car, we would be close to Taliesan West. There was not enough
time to do it justice before our flight out, but it was hugely satisfying to stand where
the great man once stood and to admire what he created.      RIP, FLW.

..... and so, to bed ....
